The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Gogo Tamuno has been announced as the winner of the Okrika Ogu/Bolo federal constituency of Rivers state in the Saturday, December 10 re-run election. Tamuno’s victory is the first result of the heavily tensed election in the state that has been marred by reports of violence in some parts of the state. The Cable reports that Okwulehie Ikechukwu who is the returning officer of the federal constituency made the announcement at around 2am on Sunday, December 11. Tamuno got 11,668 votes to defeat Maureen Tamuno of the All Progressives Congress (APwho got 5,995 votes.
The returning officer declared the result at the council hall in Port Harcourt which is the collation centre for Rivers East senatorial district and explained that incidents of violence prevented the announcement at the constituency
