In a suit filed before Justice Adegboyega Adeniyi of the Federal Government Territory Court in Apo, the formal minister challenges the breach of his fundamental human right liberty. Fani Kayode as been under detention at the facility of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for close to one month after honoring the commission’s invitation on Monday, May 9. He was later moved from Abuja to Lagos where a remand order to detain him for 21 days was gotten from Lagos Magistrate court. The EFCC in its application for the order said a longer detention of the formal minister would enable the commission conduct further investigation into an alleged N1.5bn fraud leveled against him pending an arraignment. However raising concerns, Fani Kayode’s media aide, Jude Ndukwe said the treatment meted to his principal by the EFCC is inhumane. Jude accused the commission whisking the formal minister away to Lagos irrespective of meeting bail condition granted him by the EFCC . In a statement issued by Jude, he accused the anti-graft agency of acting contrary to Nigerian law comparing the approach to the same way it was treating Sambo Dasuki and Nnmadi Kanu .
